For those of you who do not love the idea of spending so much time trying to get a college degree so that you can become a software tester, software testing certification is the only way to go. It is perfectly understandable that many people don't see it as being beneficial to spend so much time and money on a degree when software testing certification is faster and will cost far less to complete. The only problem with this logic is that you can't use software testing certification in any other field besides software testing. It won't help you if you want to move into other areas like software developing or administration further down the road. For those fields, a degree is a must. So that's why when making the decision to go for software testing certification, you better make sure that software testing is the career path that you want to stick with for the rest of your working life. It's also important to note that software testing certification is not looked at with the same high regard as other tech related certifications. Even with a software testing certification, you may still find it difficult or even impossible to find work as a tester.
If you are ready further it must mean that you have decided to go for software testing certification. For those that think college is the best way to go, you should probably move along and begin the admissions process and start looking for financial aid.
There are two different ways to get your certification and which one you decide on will be a result of the type of life you live. If you are a person that is always busy with your job and family life, you are not going to have the time it takes to go through education-based software testing certification. Because this method of certification requires that you be in the classroom and pass multiple courses before completing, a person that has too much on their plate already will not find any benefit to getting certified in this way. For the person that is always busy, you are going to want to stick with exam-based software testing certification. This method by which to get certified is much easier for someone that has a lot of commitments that they can't get around because it only requires that you take one test to get certified and no class time. You can study on your own and take the test when you are ready.
A variety of different certifications are available for software testing. Each is offered by a different institutional body, but one is just as good as any other, so picking the right certification is pretty much not an issue. Software testing certification is a good way to find a rewarding career without wasting a lot of time on classes you don't need. Certification can tell a prospective employer that you have the basic skills needed for an entry-level position as a software tester that can earn you a nice salary and a better life.
